Fairyhouse hosts a seven-race card on Tuesday, February 3, here are our picks for each race.
Racing kicks off at 13:15 and features the 14:25, grade three, Solerina Hurdle.
The ground is described as heavy on what looks set to be an extremely testing afternoon.
With that said, let’s take a look at the mudlarks on the card and assess their chances.
fairyhouse tueday picks – mudlarks the order of the day
13:15 – treo eile supporting racehorse aftercare mares maiden hurdle – 2M
16 runners are declared for the opener at Fairyhouse, with Likealightswitch currently top of the market at 5/2.
The five-year-old has run credibly in defeat several times over hurdles and last month’s Clonmel second was on heavy ground.
He’ll have to cut out jumping mistakes but is a worthy favourite here.
Likealightswitch 5/2f
13:50 – BETVICTOR STILL BEST ODDS GUARANTEED MAIDEN HURDLE – 2M
Spirnghill Warrior is the 11/8-favourite for this fifteen-runner maiden.
The five-year-old has run well in second on both starts and doesn’t mind the mud.
He finished runner-up to the recent listed handicap second, I Started A Joke.
SPRINGHILL WARRIOR 11/8F (NAP)
14:25 – BETVICTOR SOLERINA mares novice hurdle (grade 3) – 2m 2 1/2f
Six go to post for the feature race of the afternoon – with around €18,000 going to the winner.
Oldschool Outlaw is the current odds-on favourite – for JP McManus, who has been absolutely flying – and won a listed bumper on heavy ground.
This longer trip looks to be a positive for the six-year-old.
Oldschool Outlaw 8/13F
14:55 – easter festival 4th-6th april maiden hurdle – 2m 4f
This fourteen-runner maiden has an extremely weak profile – pick the winner out of a hat is best.
With no real signs of a mudlark – or a stand-out performer – I’ll take a tentative punt on JP once again, with Sound As A Bell.
Sound as a bell 11/4f
15:30 – bobbyjo day february 21st handicap hurdle – 2m 4f
In this 14-runner contest, it’s themanintheanorak who catches the eye.
He ran well over course and distance on heavy ground and has finished second on his last two outings.
Michael Kenneally claims seven pounds and the improving six-year-old can bag that elusive hurdle success.
themanintheanorak 4/1
16:05 – ADARE MANOR OPPORTUNITY HANDICAP HURDLE – 2M
13 are declared for this two-mile handicap.
Our Uncle Jack won by a distance at Clonmel last time and that came on heavy ground.
He’ up 12lb for that, but top claimer Michael Kenneally will remove some of that.
our uncle jack 4/1f (nb)
16:40 – GET DAILY BET BOOSTS AT BET VICTOR (PRO/AM) INH FLAT RACE – 2M
Once again, there is not a stand-out mudlark in this seven-runner Irish National Hunt flat race.
The nod goes to Green Hint, who has joined Willie Mullins and can build on last season’s Punchestown second.
